Every major has low first year pay. Most make it back within a couple of years. Risks mean rewards. Someone that got on at SWA 20 years ago versus staying at Air Wisconsin? How about Mesa? Worlds biggest regional a few years ago.

You may be happy living in Bumfk, AR making good coin but when your flying gets outsourced to the next guy who outbid you then your lifestyle will be gone.
Airlines are not for everyone and a lot of corporate guys are happy where they are. But if you are in the airline business then it doesn't make sense to not try to play with the big jets. That's where the money is. The majors control the flying the regionals get. That is the nature of the beast. As a regional you are flying the small routes that are incremental revenue. Gas goes up, small jets get cut because those flights don't make money.

Enjoy your lifestyle at XJT. But don't be surprised when your F/O you are flying with now calls you 5 years from now with his layover stories in Rio or London and he's making more than you are. I have seen it over and over the past 30 years.
Well said. !

Guess that's your answer ... "nope, not yet"

Good luck. Hopefully it will work out how you want it to.

You think the C series and the 190 etc...are being built to just hang in a museum or am I just not seeing the big picture?

But its not about me and I don't need to gloat its just the facts. The ride is over for all of us and you dopes going to USAir just undercut all of us again by proving were willing to sell our souls down the river for hope...give me a break!
Just curious, but what kind of bucks do you expect to be banging down in 5 years at your regional, when your pals are climbing over each other here for a shot at an E-190 slot paying $42/hour ?

I think your fantasies are writing checks reality won't cash in the future.

As another XJT guy. I think you are misguided. XJT has been a good place for me to work and build the experience required to go to a major. Yeah, I make money and have a decent schedule. But I can't wait to take the pay cut and start working for a real airline that sells its own tickets. I remember 8 years ago sitting in the plane on IOE. The check airman told me we were just a smoke and mirrors company. Coming from the world of a CFI, I had no idea what he meant. Now it is all so clear, and I am ready to move on. You enjoy staying here and thinking about the MRJs... Or whatever RJ.

From my experience, calls will probably not go out until they close the window. I applied back in June, interviewed in August, hired couple days ago.

Well you will eventually get a good contract but in a few years a labor judge will take it all back. Show me thats that not the new business model and ill give!
US Airways pilots have paychecks that match whats painted on the side of their planes.

Its called the difference between a job and a career. How good the job is versus how good the career is are certainly debatable, but regional airline pilots have jobs. US Airways pilots have careers.

XJT, speaking of the worst rules. What kind of contract could you be possibly working under at your regional that is better than US/AW contract. You also seem like one of those guys who did apply and got the NO, just bitter about it. Enjoy watching from the sidelines as the rest of your co workers jump ship for a better career elsewhere. Boy.
