4 Yr. Deg.
Question for the DAL folks. I'm familiar with the requirement to have in possession a 4 year Degree to be considered for employment with DL, however I'm a little curious to know if it matters where that 4yr Degree was earned. Eg. Popular or Prestigious Alma Mater or Local College. Apologies for the freshman question.

I think that the powers that be think that it depends on the individual. There are plenty of "brick and mortar" so called students that use college as a 4 year extention of their high school childhood to party hardy and play hackey sack in the quad in between binge drinking-vomiting-repeat episodes while getting worthless degrees in feelings and statism, all on daddy or the government's money.
Meanwhile *some* online students are working one or more full time jobs maybe even while raising a family and giving back to their community in some way, while earning a far tougher and more useful degree, and paying for it themselves.
If you had to choose between those two hypotheticals, all other things being equal, which would you pick to hire?

Remember - all the "stuff" on your app like college, jobs, degrees is just to get your app scored well enough to make it to an interview. While it may come up during the interview it is not the primary focus at this point - that is - what kind of 4 year degree did you get.

Thanks for the responses gentlemen. I've been on the hustle getting my degree full time, flying the line on weekends perpetual, raising a family etc. etc. However I'm not quite fond of the online deal so I chose to go to an accredited Local college near me that also results in far less cost/dollar amount, hence the query.

I disagree. Everything about college is scored differently. You will get a different score by attending an AABI college compared to a local non-flying college. You are expected to have a higher GPA in a Liberal Arts degree compared to an Aeronautical Engineering degree. How many years did it take you to finish college?

Seems like a lot of how your app is scored is speculation! I call bs on a lot of what is said here. Unless you were involved in the hiring process, nobody really knows how your app is scored, and if you did why would you publicize internal policy? Pilots love to talk out of their as so who knows what really happens to get called for an interview. The whole process seems either arrogant to me but such is life.

Then how did all the Auburn folks get hired?
Steve Dickson gave a lounge briefing last month on the hiring process. While the weight of the metrics isn't public, the things that he emphasized were those that differentiated a candidate from the pack. He specifically mentioned where an applicant went to college, how long it took to finish, degree and GPA were weighed heavily. He also said they were looking for leadership, volunteerism and service (all three of any type) to differentiate candidates. He also said that attention to detail was a key differentiator - multiple misspellings, failure to do timely updates, unexplained gaps in an app all were things that put guys into tier 2.
FWIW, and good luck all.
