All the Cape Air guys hired here are part of the university gateway program. They've basically been on a multi-year interview. I believe there's a jet transition course they must pass prior to being hired by JetBlue.
Military and 121 glass jet time is a vast majority of the new hires backgrounds.

According to our FOM (Flight Ops Manual), the Gateways are:
Gateway 1 - the normal process
Gateway 2 - Bluedarts (basically guaranteed interviews for anyone who gets a Bluedart from a Jetblue pilot)
Gateway 3 to 5 - for internals
Gateway 6 - university gateway - which is for graduates of AABI schools who go through the process and work at CapeAir (and I'm hearing rumors about Expressjet)

What is the latest word on hiring chances for those with low PIC times? I know that there have been a lot of "he said, she said" about some new "minimums". Has there been any official word on what will be the minimums going forward? I was lucky enough to get an SIC jet job with very low time, and then have put in the time at both a regional and currently a fractional. I just hope that I still have a chance. I have three type ratings and have had absolutely no training issues in my background. I also have two internals.

That's actual a major change to the process and explains the long wait between interview and class date. Before, you'd start class without your background check being done, and you'd get an e-mail saying you passed Phase II sometime during IOE. Or, if you're like me, you never even got an e-mail. I only assume I passed Phase II since I've been getting a paycheck twice a month for almost two years.
Sounds like their actually trying to do a better job of keeping candidates informed. It's possible the person making the "update" phone calls left out the phrase "pending PHC approval" or some people were so excited to see the phone ring, they didn't hear it or forgot it.

Yes the pilot window is closed. Rumor has it to open next month. I'm sure as soon as official word hits it will spread like fire on the Hollywood hills. Everyone interested will have to reapply. They do this periodically to purge the system.
Apparently, You can submit a non flt related app and update it. Just what I read.
