Looking for insight from anyone with experience regarding the following. How do DAL or UAL view Union positions, namely Steward positions? I truly believe they should be viewed favorably as they are positions of Leadership geared toward ensuring contract compliance and overall safety. They also typically take workload off of Management by fielding issues that would otherwise be directed toward various departments within the airline. However, the topic of Unions can be volatile these days and those in the interviewer seats come from various positions within a given Company.

Again, any insight from those having experience with either hiring for these Company's or having held such a position and either been hired or passed over would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I talked to a Delta Captain yesterday in Houston. I just walked up and introduced myself.
He told me that right now, they are only looking at folks with at least a 3.5 GPA in college.
Can any any other Delta Airlines folks on here substantiate that?

Thanks

This is very incorrect.

That's not correct on GPA and from what I have seen Delta views Union service as a positive. Lots of former RJ new hires did Union work.

I have an 87.3/100

I wish the school had a translation, but that's what's on my transcript.

And why the hell does it matter. Know how many times I've used my Mechanical Engineering degree flying a plane in my life.

The average line pilot/check airman knows about as much about the hiring process as my dog. They will regurgitate rumors that they have heard. HR keeps a lock on that stuff for liability reasons.
Heck, here at Trailways, the guys that do interviews on the hiring team don't even know when we will be hiring.
Anybody who tells you anything other than what is listed in black and white online or told face to face to someone by HR is guessing.
I think a more accurate statement would be "Delta places a premium on formal education. The better you have performed, the more likely you are to get an interview."

They are hiring ~1000 this year...3.5 GPA will not be an issue!
