Its still going to take a while to exhaust that "elite" group. Then it will be open season for the rest of us. Don't read into my term "elite" too much, it is in no way a measure of good pilot vs. bad, or smart vs not so smart. Its just extra boxes you check on an application to help filter through a stack of 10,000. I would estimate theres probably 1,000 or so elites out there. Once theyre all hired, youll see the rest of us get calls. And it will be gangbusters.
Even the DL flows are well under 500 to go, and limited to about a quarter that per year, so plenty of off the street hiring as long as hiring continues.

Curious what folks' availability has been who've been interviewed by Delta. I have a friend I work with who is available in mid-March (same availability as me) who was hired by UAL but I don't know what the other airlines are doing. I was surprised UAL is calling guys 4-5 months out and figured I shouldn't start worrying until Jan or Feb since I'm not available until mid-March. Now that I know of at least 2 hired by UAL with mid-March availability I'm thinking about stressing out a little .

I have two data points for Delta hring--one mil guy who is available in Aug and another in May who both got interview invites recently. Both are retiring.

I wouldn't stress. Ive never heard of a viper driver NOT getting hired. Youll probably get calls by all the majors at the same time. If you happen to be in the pool for a while, your pension check + unemployment is manageable in the short time youd have to wait for a class date.

It's because you don't have a military call sign and don't understand the intricacies of centerline thrust...

I feel your pain, as I have been there.
I hit my 1000 PIC 121 turbine 15 yrs ago and I finally go the call to interview at a legacy back in the late summer.
Luckily, I got the job.

I know of 3 this time around. From all accounts, quals and availability had nothing to do with it. Do interview prep and be humble!

No calls for a few months after retirement...2 calls/emails in 2 days (SWA/DAL) and hired by both. Crazy timing and was a fun month!
Good luck.
