Lots and lots and lots of OTS opportunities at DL as long as hiring continues.

Street hiring will be substantial every single year starting now. Even if you use August, it only goes that late because of the OTS numbers front loaded during the holdbacks. Regardless, 125ish is the max per year number of CPZ flows for any year ever. I think we will hire way, way more than 125 pilots per year. Mesaba flows are only 9 per month and will be over with completely and forever very soon.

ghilis101, congrats on step 1! While I realize the wait can seem agonizing, it's a really good time to get hired. We are in the infancy of our hiring cycle, the company is doing well, and we are opening contract negotiations in a year. Best of luck during your interview!

Possibly. Delta just invited me to interview, and the earliest interview date was mid June. Based on that projected interview date, and the size of the pool, theyre going to be interviewing my group for class dates somewhere in 2015. Don't get me wrong, Im absolutely excited about getting the call from DAL , I just have to stay patient because the interview is in 3 months and of course its a marathon, and not a sprint. Looking forward to it!
Also, I think they are being very conservtive on what they tell you. AFAIK they have increased classes in the short term to 3 per month. 300 in one year is now 600 a year for almost 2 years, and many think it could go higher. Even if it doesn't, CPZ flows are limited to 125 or so per year and we are in the last few months of the small Mesaba flows anyway. Pilots hired in your group (hopefully you too!) could very easily see a couple months on reserve and then never look back for the rest of your career, with upgrade times a quarter (yes, a quarter) of what they've been lately (in terms of YOS).

Hired by UAL in November 2013 and I will be lucky to be in class August 2014!
And to all those trying to get on at a major, It's not what a company can hire annually....it's what they can train.
I suggest if you are looking to go the route of the majors - prepare for a long swim. Set yourself up and plan ahead.

Congrats! Plus what Spud said.

That was then, this is now. After 5 years of stagnation caused by the age 65 debacle, the flood gates are about to open, and there will once again be 35yr. old captains in the not too distant future. You don't think the guys in HR know what they are doing, and who they want to talk to, and what 'problems' might arise?
My point was, you don't show up to interview (for a right seat 717 job) bragging about 15,000 hours and all the 747 time you have.
Now you know why Delta uses a shrink; to weed out the ego maniacs.
Get a clue.

I would much rather brag about my Citabria or my hot wife.
sounds like someone is insecure.

Thanks everyone! The future definitely looks bright for the industry. Seven years of trying to get on at a major hasn't been too bad, so realistically waiting 3 more months to interview and up to a year or more for class will go by super quick. Im excited about getting the invite because I think that officially ushers in the next phase of hiring, the non check airman qualifications, those of us with PIC but no instructor time. I hope this officially means the floodgates are opening. Good luck to us all!
