Default Criterie for getting an interview

Can anyone tell me who has been getting a invite for an interview at Delta from off the street? I have heard they are looking for astronauts. I have a friend with an interview and it appears they are looking for this;

8000 hours total time
6000 hours PIC
5000 hours Turbine PIC
6000 hours Part 121
Never failed a checkride
Three or Less driving tickets/violations
Applied over 5 years ago
Graduated magna cum laude GPA 3.9
1 internal letter of recommendation
Bachelors degree accomplished in 4 or less years, no breaks

Am I missing anything? Would you agree that this is what they are looking for? Has anyone gotten an interview with anything other than this? I know that military is a whole different animal and has an entirely different criteria. I am just curious who has been getting the invite. I have a lot of friends that got the fix it email but then have heard nothing. Guess they currently have 8000 applications right now too. Just curious of the 8000 how many actually meet this criteria?

Your friend is on the lowed end of the range, especially GPA. DL usually has a strict "4.0 or GTFO" policy. Also a sigle traffic citation at any time, even parking, is usually a no go. But if he aces the interview he has a chance I suppose. I knew someone who got on with a 3.9 GPA but it was in engineering from a really tough school and he was putting himself through mopping floors Good Will Hunting style. He still had to dance his way out of that one in the interview though. They actually don't hire that many astronauts though, because believe it or not they are considered somewhat untrainable know it alls by that point. So its a very fine line, which is why they only find a few pilots a year that meet their stringent requirements.

For real though, DL isn't really that much harder than anywhere else to get a chance with. They only just now started hiring what is going to be many, many thousands of pilots after essentially not hiring for more than one 2 year blip and another 3 month blip out of the last 13 years. That's a pretty big bottle neck and its going to take several months to clear out, but we're seeing it already.

Many, many thousands of applicants will be interviewed and hired with no where near the numbers you posted. It just started, and most of the "hiring" this early on has been flows and furlough recalls and the extremely well connected who have been stuck in the bottle neck. Its about to open up big time.

Haha gloopy that was hilarious...
My friends and I going to DAL all have circa 2000 hrs, fighter background. My interview group was all mil as well, although a mix of platform/experience. There was also a RJ FO interviewing that week that received a CJO too.

Default Giving Notice?

Questions for the masses:

1. Does the fact that you did or did not give 2 weeks notice appear on a PRIA record?

2. Assuming that a person has good reason, family issue, would it be acceptable to not give 2 weeks notice.

3. If that person was already hired by another airline (X), the place they plan to stay, do they risk losing the job with (X) by not giving (Y) 2 weeks notice?

1. I doubt it. PRIA is about training records and drug test results and the big safety related things. There is nothing illegal regarding the length of notice you give or don't give, so I'd be very suprised if this was in any way related to it. Provided you don't quit mid flight, of course.

2. It happens all the time. I really don't think anyone cares as long as its not some flagrant mitigating circumstance (like quitting at an out station stranding a bunch of people while you flip everyone off, etc).

3. Highly unlikely. Sometimes hiring airlines will offer classes inside of 2 weeks knowing that you are currently employed. Most don't care about the feelings of the other.

It will not be on your PRIA but when the company request your employment data it will more than likely come back that you are not eligible for rehire. This might raise some eyebrows but I won't worry too much about it.

You probably won't be asked since they won't find out about it until after they've hired you.

No

True. When SkyWest hired me, they called on a Wednesday and asked if I could be in class the following Monday. While my employer at the time wasn't too happy about that, SkyWest was!

More TT/PIC/121 than me, and a better GPA. I got the call with 4300 TT/ 2300 PIC, half mil / half 121.

Interestingly enough my buddy just left one major for another. I have 2 more buddies hired at 2 majors with a decision to make on whether to stay put or go to the other major that put them in a pool. Im in Phase 2 at JB and if DAL doesn't hire me I'll be left with a choice to stay where I'm at or go to JB. Your friend is likely going to fall into this category soon where they'll have choices to make. Patience is key and im sure they are doing their best to bolster their resume while they keep applying.
