And that's never going to change for many very obvious reasons. Perhaps they should take that reality into account before deciding on misleading spreadsheets about how much hotel costs they are going to save by cramming 30 pounds of reality into a 3 pound sack.
If you wanna play big in NYC, you have to accept massive percentages of commuters. Short calls aren't always in base either, because they too still have to get to base during IROPS. Maybe they should consider flowing a little more flying through other bases so they have crews there when the inevitable and highly frequent NYC IROP happens.

I'm not on the 717 so I don't keep a close pulse, and I hope everything moves. But the #1 guy in my Sep class picked Atl717 and he's 255/259 after 6 months. I picked #2 in our class, and according to iCrew I'd be 258/259 next month on the 717 in Atl (99.6%). That qualifies as stagnation to me. From these forums, it sounds like the NYC new hires are having a tough time getting to Atl, too.

Dude. Get a grip. Many of the captains you fly with sat as engineers for nearly a decade. After 5 plus years I was three from the bottom at the entire airline and was happy because I'd finally been recalled after more than a 4 year furlough. And you feel "jumped on"? I truly hope that no one ever has to deal with what those of us hired in the 200-2001 time frame dealt with, and you are entitled to say your piece, but without context it just comes across as entitled whining.

First off, he doesn't fly the 717. He didn't complain about anything, he was trying to be helpful. This is, after all, a thread where new hires share info and ask questions. One question that has popped up a lot lately is "what plane will get me to ATL fastest." What he offered about the 717 is in that regard was utterly germane to a new hire who knows they are going to NYC, but wants to pick the plane that will get them to ATL asap. Past experience doesn't equal future performance, but for a new guy that wants to get to ATL asap, the 717 appears to be the worst choice. "Stagnant" is a very loaded term, probably was not the best choice.
Just my perspective.

As a new hire myself, I can say that we can't possibly truly understand what the past decade and a half has been like for those on property. We know we are starting at some great times. All we can do is heed the advice of those before us and learn as much as we can.
But, it stinks when someone is trying to help someone out and is given grief from others for giving honest feedback. Trust me, we have nothing but mad respect for those above us that went through some rough times. I saw my father go through all of it, so I kind of understand. But it's not an entitlement attitude to express what is the fastest way to get to ATL...at 2014 paces. Just my humble opinion.

Pile on...I personally know BlaneO. He served honorably in the militaty for 20+ years and is now starting his second career. Trust me, he's not of the entitlement attitude. He's simply trying to help other newbies make as informative of a decision as they can.

Simms41,
We are not giving BlaneO grief - simply disagreeing with him. It was quite obvious from his post that he was just trying to share some info to help guys out - very admirable.
As a side note you don't know how happy I am, and how big of a smile it put on my face to see guys talk about stagnation in months!
Truly good times.

Maybe the best way to put it is "There are no NEW 717b positions planned for ATL"
I'm thinking that, with ATL being a 'decent' commute from the west coast, and NYC being a high percentage of commuters from all over, there will most likely be SOME movement created in each of the current 717 bases as guys bid west.
Other thoughts?
