Latest with DAL 737/757/RNAV into JNU
Been hearing rumors DAL is putting 757's into JNU because 737's aren't equipped with ADF/NDBs for lower minumums on the LDA. Just wondering if anyone has heard any other talk?
Also, any news on their pursuit of the RNAV/RNP approaches in there? Are they working on developing their own or trying to gain access to Alaska's still?
Heard the JNU airport manager found out they were coming by reading about it in the newspaper, pretty classic.

Apparently after Delta asked for info on the RNAV RNP and Alaska said no, Delta has filed via the Freedom of Information Act to obtain said data. The 757's is the current plan.

What info does Delta need from Alaska? It's a RNAV RNP approach. Delta is doing them into more difficult airports.

Sailing, what the hell is wrong with you! Don't you know that Juneau is the most difficult airport in the World? No one, I mean no one will be able to master it outside of our partners at Alaskan

I think its like that proprietary jetBlue RNAV approach to Kennedy that we had in our pubs for a while and then it mysteriously vanished. It has to be specifically tested and simulated and certified before it can go into our OpsSpecs.
Any reasonably well trained monkey can fly RNAV/RNP into Juneau but not until the "Administrator" signs off.
Its a bureaucratic hoop jumping circle jerk while simultaneously twerking.

Had a SLC 7ER LCA on the JS..said he was headed down to the box to put together a theater qual for the SEA 7ER guys to fly the 75 to fly into JNU cause they were CAT C for lower circling mins.. Evidently AK won't share their RNAV RNP..since AK must use the -800 and it is Cat D..we'll just throw a 75 in there, circle at Cat C and load up on Halibut and Salmon headed for SEA..
Not on the 737, but can the -700 utilize CAT C for circling approaches? I was under the impression that bird has some pretty slow approach speeds. Looking at the loads as of now, it seems like that would have been a better plane to start the service with. Maybe thats why I'm not in marketing....

LOL, the minimums for the RNP RNAV 26 are a DA of 336'....Ask the JS what the circling minimums are for the circle 26 3 miles and 1000' me thinks. If the weather sucks and it's blowing out of the west(common), Alaska will be moving our passengers.

Oh man! I bet they don't know what the circling mins are for 26 and that the weather sucks in AK most of the time, especially when the winds blow out of the west! I better email that LCA before DL makes a huge mistake..LOL!
I'm just passing on what I heard since Pelican asked the question. Maybe that's why they're gonna qual SEA 7ER guys to circle at mins instead of the 1000/3 like the rest of us? I don't have the chart memorized since I haven't been up there since 98 when I flew CG Hercs out of Kodiak.
I guess we'll know this summer if there's a 75 sitting on the ramp next to an AK 73.

Historical data is required to short cut the certification process.
