She's got a great chance of getting a large settlement from SWA, here's how: Since this captain's name was on a no-fly-with list managed by SWA, it means SWA has unwittingly documented the fact that they had a serious problem child, and did nothing about it until the accident. This captain's attorney will make the claim that "SWA withheld the help my client needed to improve, thus SWA is complicit in the accident for which SWA has wrongly terminated my client."
If it's as you say, they knew they had a pilot with issues but did nothing about it, I can understand and agree with your point.
And although this instance varies slightly from the FedEx case a while ago, IF there is a formal documented history of problems, she may be S.O.L.
