Spirit DFW Job Fair
#21
I'm not advocating "working for free" or weakening our Agreement by disregarding our work rules. We fight the battles that need fighting. Mgmt cannot pay the pilots to work at the job fairs; there is no provision in the contract for that. They solicit volunteers and people show up. I'll even bet some of these volunteers have their own agenda (a chip in the big game - should they step on their wanky, for example). But these pilots aren't abrogating our Agreement in any way.
We should try to make this operation better everyday by SPEAKING UP and calling out the employees (contract or Spirit employees) who fail to do their job and make our jobs tougher. I'm talking groomers, rampies, gate agents or whoever - that take shortcuts or flat out fail to do their job - just to broom us off the gate so they can go on break. And we just sit up front and take it up the tailpipe! And they continue to leave us with filthy airplanes, improper catering, and ****ed off passengers.
The more we say nothing, the more brazen they get. We can all stop it, dead - if we all start doing our jobs.
When do we start doing that work? Oh, it's their supervisors' job. But they don't have one, it's just us. So let's all be miserable then.

We can all appreciate our hard fought gains, but this ideology of "them vs. Us" all the time needs to be thought through. The company makes money, we make money. I find it refreshing that the company wants pilots involved in the hiring process. It keeps us connected. I don't see the company thinking "oh look, they are working for free, let's see what else they'll do for nothing".

Apparently it's a function of high utilization and there is a "heavy cleaning" program now in progress. The entire fleet has been though at least once. Southwest has high utilization as well I believe and if I recall they don't have the tidiest planes either. Not an excuse but it is what it is.

All,
Just want to say thanks to Scott, the Marriott staff and all of the folks who helped put on the show. Addy and the rest of the volunteers were great to talk to while waiting our turn in line and really helped calm the nerves.
And, of course, definitely want to say thanks to all of the Spirit folks who volunteered their personal time to show up and talk to everyone. Great event, lots of fun, met some great folks and hope everyone gets the long app!

Not saying that...just saying you can't meet with the recruiters at the job fair for the time being.
I'd definitely keep applying. Matter of fact I think the app changed a little bit ago, so if you haven't applied recently you should do so for sure.
You said you got the long app at some point? Maybe you should contact whoever sent it to you and go from there...
