Isn't that a breach of their specific duty? To defend the flight deck. In reality because nothing ever happens it seems FAMs would jump at the first opportunity to actually do something in an otherwise most boring job. Real, smart bad guys could set up a decoy distraction involving FA harassment just to see FAMs break cover. If these FAMs did over a seat recline issue, something is wrong with their operation.

The fact that this "story" was a national front page story clearly shows an activist sales media trying to make the news. They are desperately trying to foment populist air rage because they think it sells. Typical nut job J school hacks.

The story is a knee jerk reaction ... .
Literally, there is a reason they test your reflexes by lightly striking the Patellar Ligament. It is a very sensitive spot and if you do not react, something's wrong with you.
Can you imagine getting hit by a reflex hammer with 100 lbs of force? The knee and it's supporting ligaments are not designed for that. It is potentially injurious and IMHO, the airlines should lock the seats in the upright position.

The difference between fully upright and the 10 or 20 degrees of max recline is huge for my back. As a commuter, I usually take a seat in the last row to entirely avoid this issue.
That said, I'll have to tear someone a new one if they impede my recline. You need more space for your clown legs, pay a little more for whatever your airline calls their 'more legroom' rows.

I also am waiting for Spirit to block off the under-seat area, and have it un-block itself only if you pay an additional fee to access it. I'm surprised they haven't done that yet.

Yup. And the incessant, inane USA Today articles bashing airlines and the "gouging" of the flying public.
