Literally, there is a reason they test your reflexes by lightly striking the Patellar Ligament. It is a very sensitive spot and if you do not react, something's wrong with you.

Can you imagine getting hit by a reflex hammer with 100 lbs of force? The knee and it's supporting ligaments are not designed for that. It is potentially injurious and IMHO, the airlines should lock the seats in the upright position.
OR...

Lock them all in the fully reclined position. I like fully reclined, all the time, and I hate sitting straight up for more than an hour, and then only on the jumpseat.

Either way.....this behavior is ridiculous.
You want a cheap seat, or room to stretch out? You don't get both.

This seat issue is a big deal. It used to be intoxicated PAX; the excess drinking seems to have fallen out of style to a large degree. Then it was the smoking, the solution for that has become the Nicorette gum/patches. The latest deal is the seat pitch. I just had a very long trip last week as a PAX and it was a horrible experience. I had a gal in front of me recline her seat, making it worse. Just as I was about to have her move it back up, she got up and went to the bathroom. By the time she came back, I had pushed her seat back up. She must have got the message as she left it up the remainder of the trip. I had to restrain myself, mostly due to my occupation. However there are many others that don't. I see this issue getting way worse before it gets better...

The simple fact is that these seats were designed to recline. Inhibiting that function and preventing someone else from using it is tantamount to encroaching on their space.

It's considered altering a part of the aircraft, or something like that. Just last week I saw it referred to in the information section of Hemispheres magazine on a UA flight. He was also asked by the FA to remove the device, so he was totally wrong.

You mean they publish that the device isn't allowed?
