New Spirit Paintjob....

The paint job is getting Spirit free press, makes their name easy to see, and helps differentiate their product from the industry. And, from a safety standpoint, it'll make the planes easier to spot.

Gay Pride Hurricane Warning livery debuted in 2007. If my memory serves me correctly, the plan was to paint the whole fleet before they realized this costs lots of money and ULCCs aren't supposed to spend lots of money painting airplanes that don't need paint jobs. As a result, they only repainted about 6-7 airplanes at some anti-OSHA cut-rate paint shop in Mexico; new deliveries get the Latin Splash before leaving Europe. The "Mexico Maacos" are starting to really look bad, so these may be marked for the Bumblebee treatment- who knows.
My guess would be this is BBB and the current BOD further distancing themselves from Indigo, as the current scheme was all Franke. The company sorely realized they have a customer service problem, which resulted in the current marketing direction (a little friendlier, a lot more education/explanation geared toward ticket purchasers). This is just the next step in the commitment with the strategy. Also cheaper than the multi-colored current scheme. It made national news last night, so I'd say mission accomplished.
