Since I have not used the travel privledges for years, the following ??? are difficult to determine on the travel net:

Does a spouse pay the same for a standby ticket as a buddy pass traveler?
If so, what is the S2, S3 pass for?

I attempeted to load a flight itinerary using my wife's info and there was no option to select S-2 or S-3 priority???


The fare for a buddy pass from Sacramento to Atlanta is $92.00. That's $184 round-trip! If this is for space-A only where's the advantage???? If a spouse has to pay the same as a buddy pass traveler, what is the annual $50.00 fee for?

The Delta travel net does not answer any questions about spouse travel and S-2, S-3, or S-4 travel. It only covers common stupid info on what to wear and not to argue with the employee's etc....where does the advantage of free travel come in these days as a Delta employee???

1. S1 = company business (N/A for non-rev) = FREE
2. S2 = highest non-rev status. Limited number of S2 passes. S2 takes priority over all S3 pass riders; however, seniority prevails compared to other S2 pass riders. S2 = FREE
3. S3 = UNL number. Seniority prevails. S3 = FREE.
4. S3B = parents. FREE but limited number.
4. S2 / S3 is selected at the airport / kiosk.

The advantages of "Buddy Passes" disappeared a long time ago - there are very few advantages. Spanky2 gave a great summary of your immediate family travel privileges.

You are always welcome to help the company and buy a full fare ticket. Delta still has some of the best and least expensive travel benefits around....just ask your friends at AMR, CAL, UAL, etc.

Retirees and spouses are also S3B. Seniority within S3B applies. No charge for S3B passes[except security and foreign travel taxes]. There is now a $50/year charge for ALL non revenue travel. No $50 payment= no pass travel. $50/year is based on your anniversary date.

Black Rocket..it is unclear if you are a Delta employee, a retiree or just a "friend" of a Delta employee. Sounds like either the first or second,if you can access Delta Net. If you are an active employee, you must(like every one else) pay the yearly $50 if you want to non-rev.After that, you, your wife and your dependents can use S-2 or S-3 passes, no other charges. If you are retired, you and your wife can use S-3B passes only,after the $50 charge, no other charges (except the international charges, like every other pass rider). If you are a "friend" of a Delta employee, you use and pay for a S-4 pass, that is a buddy pass, and your friend must have paid the $50 charge. Depending on the computed distance that you intend to travel, the cost of a buddy pass changes. They are, in my opinion, almost worthless, unless you have a lot opf time to sit around and miss flights.
