Oh... that is way to easy!!
While Non Reving, I watched the Captain come out into the gate house to give us his PA. He explained how he and the FO were former Navy pilots and they would withhold the urge to do a barrel roll just after takeoff. He gave a brief resume' of his background as a fighter pilot and now flying this airline's jets for 20 years.
The look on the passenger's faces were not one of amusement but one of "is this guy serious?" At least he didn't have his sunglasses on.
I recognize the gatehouse PA is a valuable tool in keeping passengers informed of irregular operations, but to provide some useless crap about your ego isn't needed.
Fly safe,

Sounds like JetBlue to me.
If you really want to cringe listen to this. I'm warning you, it is painful.

Most of our planes now have live TV, so I really try to keep the PAs to minimum. I hate it when I'm riding in the back watching a ballgame and some d-bag makes a 5 minute PA about how we're now flying over the world's largest ball of yarn, etc.

This is a true story. On a commute, keep in mind I was one of the last people on the plane, flying from JFK to my home. I said hi to the flight crew, the FO was very nice, but the Captain just looked at me a couple times and nodded with his seat reclined. Now at first I just thought this guy is not very social. So imagine my surprise after taking my seat when this guys comes out and faces a fully loaded AB320 to make a PA, with his sunglasses on. Now, I understand it gets bright in the cockpit, but he didn't have them on 2 min before when I was up there. Then he starts talking about how he has a plane full of gas and we can go wherever we want and starts dropping warm destinations, and brings up how it's ok because he has another job in the AirForce reserve. I am offended and embarrassed as a co worker of this individual and as a member of the AirForce. I hope you read this. Yes you are a complete juicing tool bag, and make military guys look bad. Really, you put your ******* sunglasses on to make a PA. I hope it ends up on you tube and your reserve squadron finds out about it, so they can play it at next drill weekend. Everyone will laugh at you cause you sir are a D-Bag.
