I work in SE China and cannot take advantage of the warranty because I have to pay for shipping to USA…. I also need a carry on and the reduced size of the bag ( 4 wheels) because of the wheels limits me more than I'm comfortable with. I pack everything into a 22" expandable because I'm gone for 10-14 day trips

Luggage Works Question
Luggae works is the best product hands down, I had my first one for at least 5 years ... Sent in my old one for a refurbishment and they ended up giving me a new bag for a very small cost .... Best customer service I have ever experienced. And just yesterday my tote bag got stuck under my Airbus seat and ended up getting damaged, called them asked if I could get it fixed or repaired , (bought it only a few month ago) they are charging me for a new one and refunding me as soon as they get my old one back...
BOOM, best product and phenomenal customer service ....
Also my roller bag is the new run called the suiter bag I believe , it's same hight as the 22 inch but a little thicker, fits way more than the regular one, well worth the extra few bucks.
Sorry for the typos , in the van

If you do get the LW, ditch the metal framed one. My first one was an absolute horror of a bag. Every screw popped out, the frame twisted into an hourglass, and every corner of that damned bag was razor sharp and destroyed all of my shoes. The zipper got chewed up badly, too.
The plastic is lighter, strong enough and, I would imagine, will not destroy your shoes.
If your company allows EFBs, just ditch the brand all together. The only reason I bought a second one is because it balances the flight kit. The day we get EFBs, I'm going to get a Briggs. Better pocket design, not absurdly heavy, and lifetime warranty. The LW repair contractor wanted almost $200.00 to fix my bag.

LW is by far the better bag. No issues with metal and security, although its a bit heavier. They make an all plastic one that's lighter and in many ways likely more durable, as plastic flexes/metal just gets bent and stays bent. The only question is the longevity of the handle. I'm not sure about that ask around.

United broke my LW stealth in 8 months. The metal that snapped is connected to wheel well...aka not their prob I guess.
LW didn't have a warranty for an 8 month old bag.
Get a plastic one.
The kid had to have dropped it from the jet bridge.
There are also giant disfiguring dents in my metal frame that look like it was run over.

They run from the $400's to mid-$500's. Standard ballistic nylon. Lifetime warranty, for anything that goes wrong. They will send you a self-repair kit, you can take it to one of their local authorized repair centers, or ship it to the factory for repair (or replacement).

I got the 22 lw plastic. It's light, but I wouldn't recommend it. Only been flying about 6 weeks and it's not holding up well. I plan on using warrenty. Might see of I can return and year up.
Handle seems ok, they redesigned them a bit ago.

Yes. If you don't commute, might get away with a 26. Downright on fleet.

I own more bags than I should (3). Two newer LW and one Strong Bag. The first LW lasted 1 year (handle would not stay locked in place) and cost nearly as much to ship it back for repairs than a new bag, so I got a new LW 26". The metal bent right away, the screws came out after a few months, the side pocket zippers failed, and the fabric was tearing in a few places after 1.5 years. Again, it cost too much to ship and have them fix it, so I got a 19" strong bag. Almost 2 years old now and it looks great. The best part is it has aluminum plates that connect the metal frame to prevent the bag from distortion. The fabric is thicker and the zippers are stronger too. Although the handle is made of thinner metal than the LW, the locking mechanism is stronger. And no, I do not commute (but RJ flying does involve a lot of DHs with gate checking).
I have seen people with 10 year old Purdy Neat bags that still look good, but I think the quality at LW has gone down in the last few years. Like many companies today, they are realized that making a good product with a lifetime warranty means you only sell one item to one customer, but making a product that lasts just 1 day longer than the limited warranty means you have a repeat customer for life.
