I use them out of TYS often, I find them to be very cordial and accommodating. I try to show up a few minutes earlier than I do for the legacy carriers, and I check in to get CASS'ed at the ticket counter. The gate agents are usually too busy to fuss with a jumpseater. Most times they have at least one open seat, I've been told they don't oversell seats, and usually at least one no show. Having said that, they will let you ride in the front, though I've not needed to yet.
They do some interesting direct flights, and makes for a great commute if the date and time work out. Unfortunately due to their lack of frequency it doesn't always work out.

Pretty much spot on...
The ticket counter does CASS. Not all airports are equipped to do it at the gate, but some are.
Show up with your badge and passport. If you see a crewmember stop them and let them know so we don't leave you behind. It's not set up quite as good as the legacies.
I don't know of anyone that would refuse a jumpseater. And we don't have many so IF you had to sit up front you most likely wouldn't have any competition. I can count on one hand the number of flight deck jumpseaters I've had in 8 years and two hands the number of total jumpseaters.
You are always welcome!
