Hello Seniors, at Spirit that is

I agree with most everyone here. However all that risk must be priced into the pilot compensation. I'm not here to finance the growth. Also, this is not a hobby, it's currently my only income stream and while I have a family and qol is very important, it does have a price. Not ever working would be the best qol but then I wouldn't have any money. See what I'm getting at? Driving down a1a to work and watching fish jump isn't as great as it sounds if you're still one of the lowest paid airbus pilots in the country. This is not a hobby. The hobbyists are why people in this country and many others fly jets for next to nothing. No doctor drops a ton on med school and then works for peanuts. This is a profession and I expect professional compensation.
I agree our pay needs to come up...dramatically, actually. However I, like others, do enjoy the QOL aspects of our contract as well. But yeah, time to pay us!

I agree with you on the compensation, but if that's you're primary concern, why are you here at Spirit? Have you not received an interview invite at Delta, American or United? Southwest?
You totally missed the point of my post. I enjoy my lifestyle and QOL here at Spirit, something I wouldn't have quite the same somewhere else. Could I go to a legacy? Sure, just like everyone else, but what I'd give up isn't worth it to me. That doesn't mean I don't want proper compensation.
And I reject the notion that doctors don't work for peanuts, there are plenty that work for less compensation than they would deserve, they do it for compassion, service and satisfaction. I don't see or hear from other doctors who try to tear them down for bringing the wage down on their vocation. I don't fly for Spirit for the fun of it, I fly for Spirit for compensation, for the future potential and because I believe in the business model.
But, thanks for the slight dig on some superficial examples of the QOL I enjoy here at Spirit.

I guess then I misunderstood you then. My apologies. I'm still here because like others I think we can have our cake and eat it too. I live in base and AA is about the only other option that would make sense at this point. I don't have apps out because in waiting to see what happens here and if I did I might not ever get a call. However eat some point you have to call a spade a spade and right now the compensation differences are staggering. If negotiations drag on and on eventually you have to follow the money. Qol right now is only a product of seniority and if you are fll based like I am that qol will almost never return in the left seat except when you can one day hold fll again and even then we will be junior forever. I'm fine with that but the money has to be there. It just sounded to me like you were willing to sacrifice compensation for a qol that is currently artificial and won't maintain without moving to Vegas for the long haul as a captain. If I misunderstood I apologize.

My post was in response to the question of going to Delta. I can't get the same quality of life I enjoy leaving for another airline. But like you, I want to be properly compensated. Recent financial achievements by Spirit, record profits and revenues are a direct result of the employee's efforts. I think we're going to be amply rewarded, I am not a doomsayer, but it may take a bit of time.
The upgrade to Captain is going to reduce my quality of life a bit, but I can handle that. It won't be forever, the company is growing, the bases, including FLL are growing. And I'm sure new bases will open in the future. Plus, there are always retirements, not a lot, but enough for some movement.
