All commodities did. The big driver of commodity spiking was China's massive building spree.

Your term for oil going from $30 to $150 is inflation?

This airline really blossomed from the days where it just flew Southern Trans around.

Your saying oil didn't go from $150 to $30 a barrel in one year after 2008??

Scary results, indeed. A few more quarters like this and the intelligentsia in DC and NY will be calling for more regulation to further "deregulate" the industry. I can just hear Chuck Schumer now: "The profit margins by the Big 4 US airlines have just become obscene!"

Check out this clip around 1:15 when Gary Kelly gets crap from some CNBC pundits, for...wait for it...too high fares and not enough competition!

LUV CEO: Profits up as energy prices drop

This from the very peeps I would expect to be cheering the airlines on for making so much money! Must be getting a little too expensive for their tastes to get the family down to Boca for the weekend...

I was told (by NE guys) that Delta got it's first Boeings, the 727's, from North East in that 1972 merger, correct?

Up until then they only had DC 8's and DC 9's, is that correct?

Last 6,7 1967, last 440 1968. First DC9 1965, CV880's, DC8's, DC10's (5) 1972. 747's 1970-74. N/E 727-95, 295's 1972. 295's were -7's soooy. soooy. All FD108. No transition course. A few L382's scattered in there till 1973. Delta 727's started arriving 1973, 1011's 1974. The rest you know. I was just junior to Nyren, I'm sure you flew with him... Hee,Hee....
