Because the way DAL does it is that you call in sick if you are sick, and you don't call in sick if you aren't sick. DAL takes actuarial table and makes costing assumptions based on reasonable statistical analysis.

Apparently we have a lot of guys calling in sick when they are not, which throws those assumptions and cost estimates out the window--at least that is what the company is saying.

Think of our sick leave format like the insurance on your house or car. Nobody wants to have to use it, some always will inevitably, and the insurance companies make best estimates using all sorts of statistical models. What they DON'T do is say "well we just assume that everyone who has x amount of coverage will use all of it to the last penny."

Seriously if anyone is facing workplace retaliation or harassment for legitimate use of sick leave call one of these two firms:

Katz, Marshall & Banks | Whistleblower Law Firm - Employment Lawyers

Welcome to The Law Offices of Howard T. Dulmage PLLC

They will put a stop to unlawful workplace retaliation or harassment. On the other hand, if your own stupidity put you in a bad place with your employer, call Dewey, Cheatham and Howe.

Do you have to use your insurance or is full walk up retail legit?

If management requests verification on a "good faith basis" then they pay the bill. Don't use your insurance. Delta is self-insured anyway (UHC administers the plans) so they're paying either way.

SWA pilots accrue on average 126 trips for pay per year and sick calls do not require a doctors note nor a description of the illness.

Kalitta Charters 2 (B727 Supplemental). Accrue 4 sick days per year. Can bank up to 7 days. Had to get a doctors note after using 4 of my 6 banked sick days.

Is that about 100 hours of pay?
