That seems low, especially if you're on the guppy. At 80 hrs/mo you're looking at 103K gross. Even with state taxes as listed, it should be closer to 6.5K. Health insurance and personal contributions to a 401k/529/HSA or the like not included. Maybe your figure included these.

Also, first year pay is a ship show everywhere, better to concentrate on year 2 onwards for an honest comparison and try to factor in things like profit sharing and number of days working, etc.

Didn't Kit Darby used to have all this information...?
It is easily available on Airlinepilotcentral. Hell a quick Google and you will find most current contracts.

With everyone's financial situations being different it can be challenging to have a solid idea of what the first year or two will hold.

It's fairly obvious that by year 3 or even 2 the pay is higher for even a hard working left seater at the regional level but I think good data would be great. So for those who have recently made the transition any data would be greatly appreciated I'm sure.

If we get some good data I'll update this post with running numbers of min/high/average and such. If it's a bad idea I'll go hide in my corner
Why do you need this data? Trying to pick where to go to offset your lavish regional captain lifestyle?

Pick a place where your quality of life will be best. Suck it up for first or maybe 2nd year pay. You will be fine.

Just get out of regional.

Kit Darby is a scumbag POS.

Yup 5% 401K is about $500 a month
Health insurance +hsa is $400 a month.

So we are about the same in the end

Valid point, might be worth nuking the thread just for that.

Stemmed from a convo with buddies the other day not knowing how profit sharing (unlikely year 1), works rules, getting a line quick, training pay or training delays might impact the initial pay checks.

Step 1 is to be fortunate enough for the opportunity to interview of course. We were just wondering aloud the possibilities after that.

Just finished year 1 at UAL.

Pre-tax total comp was (hourly rate + perdiem) ~86000
Majority of the year was at 68/HR with a bump to 79 in February.
Avg. perdiem ~800 per month.
Line holder for 5 months.
Had 2 months of training pay @90 hours of credit.

Year 2 will be much better. A blended 320 rate of 119.80$ plus hopefully a nice bonus check.

Year 3 is 142/HR. Sometime time in year 3 I should be able to hold west coast WB. Year 4 pay on the WB is ~190/HR.

I don't know a more lucrative year 2 deal but there may be some out there.
Lucrative is relative. The HKG FEX expat package is well below its peers in HKG. Something to seriously consider before taking the job there. Year two stateside should be the one used for comparison.

I'll bite.

Year 10 FDX HK FO, yes FO.

Dec 31st check income from flying was 180,000 (again, flying, not counting per diem). Housing allowance was 60k. So for 2015, I made 240 K not counting per diem (but I hardly fly so that number would be tiny anyway). FO pay. But, it's year 10.

The days of lucrative HKG expat packages are kind of gone. Original CX (Cathay) guys got approx 10K USD per month for housing. That has long since passed and they are on a "C" scale now and people starting there today get less for housing than we (FDX) do. Lawyers and financial analysts for big firms vary as well.

Stateside Year 2 #'s as you requested would be:

Guy who works the min (approx 886 credit hours per yer):
Narrow body: 886 x 134 = 118 K
Wide body: 886 x 163 = 144 K

Average pilot credit is about 941 per year. I work much less. We are pretty flexible about dropping / conflicting trips. YMMV

I don't see how it's worth it to do the expat thing though unless you really like it over there. A 10 year 777/747 FO at UAL makes 240K as a line holder with 19 days off a month. No housing allowance needed and that doesn't include the 40K the company puts in the B fund. It all depends what you like I guess.
