If you can upgrade to widebody captain many years earlier than you would have otherwise, it might be worth the money. A married couple that are both getting the housing allowance would also have a pretty good deal. And you don't have to stay over there for more than a couple of years if you decide you don't like it.

I have heard there are many people over there that love it. And many others that enjoy it for a number of years and then are ready to come back to the US. I would consider it just for the adventure if my dogs weren't such an important part of my family.

There are FO's at Delta who will make 180k in year two. Some will break 200k. They have no life but the money is there if you want it.

Year 10 FDX HK FO, yes FO.

Dec 31st check income from flying was 180,000 (again, flying, not counting per diem). Housing allowance was 60k. So for 2015, I made 240 K not counting per diem (but I hardly fly so that number would be tiny anyway). FO pay. But, it's year 10.

The days of lucrative HKG expat packages are kind of gone. Original CX (Cathay) guys got approx 10K USD per month for housing. That has long since passed and they are on a "C" scale now and people starting there today get less for housing than we (FDX) do. Lawyers and financial analysts for big firms vary as well.

Stateside Year 2 #'s as you requested would be:

Guy who works the min (approx 886 credit hours per yer):
Narrow body: 886 x 134 = 118 K
Wide body: 886 x 163 = 144 K

Average pilot credit is about 941 per year. I work much less. We are pretty flexible about dropping / conflicting trips. YMMV
Fair enough. Some points to add are that current pilots hired at Cathay have little to no experience so they are paid accordingly. Dragon is not much better in the experience pool relative to the quality that FEX gets in its new hires. Also, all the housing is taxable. That's a pretty significant hit. What about children's education? That costs money too.

I'm just saying that albie's expat comparison is not apples to apples with second year leagacy pay. All things considered, I would argue second year FEX HKG is worse than second year legacy because of the additional cost incurred living in Hong Kong. As an expat in HKG, certainly you know what I am talking about.

Yr 1 FO at Spirit. Will take home approx $24K. Not a typo. Twenty four thousand dollars after taxes and union dues.

JetBlue first year is $40-45,000 while second year is anywhere from $75,000-100,000.

You don't pay union dues first year.

A 10 year 777/747 FO at UAL does not make 240k, more like 210k assuming 80 hours a month and per diem included.
