Default Which Legacy/Major for LAX base?

Hypothetically if you had to pick between any major airline and ultimately wanted LAX base which would you choose at present and why?

American. There's been a lot of growth there for us and we've sent a ton of new hires there this year, so even if you didn't get it initially, you'd likely get it on your first preference bid. I'm not sure if it's a junior base for other carriers. Potential downside, having to cover SNA and ONT.

United.

Other than EWR & SFO which are uber-junior, LAX is next in line. United's long-term focus is across the Pacific and the west coast bases are obviously key to that growth.

United new hires are going there on the 737. Have to cover SNA as well but not a ton of trips out of there.

I believe it is pretty junior at delta as well.

American. In the last couple classes, 40+ new hires have been sent to LAX.

Alaska/Virgin. They are pretty dedicated to the LAX area, and west coast in general and lots of growth ahead. I like to think about what would happen if XYZ airline closed their LAX base and you had to commute. SFO, PDX, SEA are all better options than ORD/DFW/NYC/MIA

AA. #1 airline in LAX.
Growth mode = more openings.
AA's west coast gateway to Asia = long haul opportunities.
DL and UA using SEA and SFO.

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

I was waiting for someone to chime in with this response. Kudos to you if that motto has worked out for you but for those who took that advice before and it didn't pan out so well the advice is usually followed by "do what's best for you and your family". Well why not start that way from the beginning? Especially in today's ever growing "pilot market". What I mean is gather up the information from this discussion and make a informed decision. After all isn't that what we do up in the air? Isn't that what forums like this were made for? Best of luck to you sir!
