Retirement Age Change
I haven't seen anything official, but two close friends recently had their AME's ask them if they would fly past age 65. They also stated that the change is coming. Either 67 or 70. No timeframe given.
My AME stated in May of this year that it is being "looked at'.

Just like everyone else, my hope is that this is just rumor. This has been discussed for years but has yet to become reality. Until then, get your popcorn ready and enjoy the many plot twists along the way. Who still wants to be in this industry and not retired by 60 anyway?
One can only imagine the ridiculousness of calling in range for wheelchairs for the pilots upon landing. So much for those 40 minute turns. Or better yet, a Capt on a tirade about how the rampers mishandled his walker by losing the tennis balls on the bottom.
Hilarity will ensue.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have some good news. We found a replacement captain. Unfortunatly his walker got stuck in the moving walk way. We regret to inform you that he will run out of duty by the time he gets here. Flights still cancelled."

Lol I should've known this post would be full of humor. Hopefully this rumor isn't true though. I honestly would probably go into another career field. There's just a point where you should retire and sit down so the cycle can keep going.

I had an FAA FSDO in the JS and he mentioned that the FAA may be trying to go towards "if you can pass the medical and training you can fly." Something about age discrimination, which I think is ridiculous. Only time will tell!

Redeyes are hell on old pilots. Flew one with a 64 yr old and he was really struggling. Felt really bad for the guy. Airline schedules are no cake walk. Which is why extending the rule is a very bad idea.
Ever notice how the grandparents pass out on the couch midafternoon while the grandkids play on the floor.
I know a lot of well qualified regional pilots who are in their late 40s to early 50s and they can't get a legacy interview. Meanwhile, the ankle biters with no turbine PIC time are getting hired. I keep hearing that the legacies would rather hire the ****ants because they're easier to train. It's ironic how the Feds are trying to keep older pilots around longer when it appears that the legacies are shying away from them!
