Went to the fair, no word yet from anyone. 10,000TT, 4000 Turbine PIC, 4 type ratings, graduated with highest honors and first in my class, plus I have 8 years of volunteer time. I was told by numerous recruiters to go get more captain time and volunteer experience. I'm also a white male.
However, I just learned that a fellow pilot who I attended school with, who previously had an accident at their 121 carrier, who was found at fault by the company, FAA, and NTSB, and was subsequently fired, was just picked up by a Legacy. This person is not a white male.
If you have any kind of ethnicity in your background (other than caucasian male), I suggest you mark that on your app. If not, you better figure out how to get some.

Funny. After attended a conference or two I can attest to the fact that amongst many well qualified, professional and prepared candidates exists a select few who might help themselves more by staying home!

The reality is, if you have plenty of PIC and many years of volunteer time, and the recruiters are all telling you that you need more, you need to figure out what's going on. Trying to excuse the fact that you're not getting the call because they're only calling all those minorities is ridiculous. There just aren't that many out there, even if every single one of them got the call before you.
So obviously, there's something wrong. Perhaps you are turning people off when they meet you personally. Perhaps there is something glaring on your applications, like something missing or something that looks bad. If you actually want a job, you need to figure it out, and not blame it on other people. Recruiters can sense a bad attitude miles away. Consider using one of the specialized consulting services, it would be worth the money.
