Curious but what does the contract say about DH and seating? Does it specify a certain boarding group to avoid a middle seat?

I'm not sure but in practice they always let the DHs board early so that's generally not an issue. Now here's one you'll love......

The Ops Agent (gate agent in the normal airline world) has the option of sticking DHs on the jumpseat on flights that are less than 2 hours long if the cabin is full. Yup. You read that right.

No advantage to being 6'3" ... I love our product more and more every time I fly someone else.

That sucks for commuters....that is the first time I've heard a pax airline can force DH's in the JS. Are there others?

Yes! And for being relatively new, they are already in $hitty condition. I fly SWA a lot, and about 1/2 the time the seat cushion on these "new" seats is so flattened it feels like a park bench. And it's often tilted one way or the other due to being jammed down into the seat frame. Additional leg room is nice when you can find it, but I'd rather have more width. Tired of doing the shoulder hunch for 2 hours to avoid rubbing up against the poor SOB in the middle seat.

But, as was stated here, you get what you pay for.

I love your airline for my commute! I get the Even More Space seats most of the time . You guys are the "bestest."

Making the cheap seats comfortable would be "negative training" for the pax. They need an incentive to upgrade.

Wow....

I am all for the "at pilot's discretion" if they want to ask the CA for the JS to help get a non rev or a revenue pax on, but a gate agent plopping you up there without the agreement of yourself or the Captain?!

This can be an issue as well though. I've seen this happen at spirit. Full flight and the DH pilot thinks he doing a nonrev a favor by taking the Jumpseat but what he didn't know is there was another pilot trying to commute. When that pilot brought it to the attention of the agent he was stonewalled and left behind. That was me before I worked at spirit and commuted on spirit a lot.

If you want to volunteer to help get a nonrev on be damn sure there is not a guy at the end of the nonrev list trying to commute.
