Confused by the United App for checking loads
Gentlemen,
I am wondering if a united employee could please explain to me the accuracy of the United app for estimating open seats. For example, I am trying to go from IAD-SEA on Wednesday the 21st. The flights I am looking at are 389 and 1603. My first question is, as of right now, I count 66 open seats according to the seat map on the United app. I count even more open seats on 1603 later in the day. Are they accurate?

Cause you have to be checked in to show up. Plus economy comfort seats are the last to go and they want people to buy those seats first. So they hold off on releasing them till the day of.

I believe the seat map isn't 100% accurate if everyone hasn't checked in for the flight. At least that's what I've been told. I use a technique of pretending to book whatever flight I'm trying to catch, on the united app. I start with 9 adults (most you can select), and go down from there, until I arrive at the number of adult seats it will let me purchase. This should indicate how many available seats there are, and has served me well! Of course if you're really nervous, people do seem to post responses to load checks fairly quickly on APC. Good Luck.
