Why there will never be a pilot shortage!!
There will never be a pilot shortage and pilots will be eventually replaced just like all other industries around the world!!! I saw this coming for awhile... of course if your over the age of 40 or so you will be fine, but the young guys will be replaced down the road with robots

Well, if they come looking like the Asian robot and the robot Alicia Vikander played from "Ex Machina" then I'm down. More so if they come with the same programming. Just don't let them near any knives.

The passenger flight will always need FAs. I'm sure the robot can accurately describe the emergency to them and direct the evacuation after a landing/ATO/burning left wing etc...
Also, the 30 minute call would be fun.
Cabin: "You guys doing ok? Need anything?"
Cockpit: "Beep boop beep."
Cabin: "two waters then???"

Not in our lifetimes, there won't be.....
Artificial intelligence is much harder than most people think.
The way an AI "thinks" is basically different from the way a human's min works.
AI's are (and always will be) very bad at analogy and improvisation.
Think of all the times you have seen a situation which you had not been trained for..... You didn't just freak and fly into the ground.... An AI would not handle a situation like that well.
Think of the Hudson river landing. Any AI ever built would have maintained airspeed and landed straight ahead-right into buildings.
Humans are much better at flying than an AI which exists now-or any which will exist for centuries.

I believe this technology is entirely plausible for single-pilot cargo operations within the next decade. Congress has already allowed the exemption of 121 cargo pilots from FAR 117; safety at the cargo level is not a public issue (to congress, not me). In 10 years time, I can realistically see pilot career (seniority) progression stagnating for 121 cargo operators. For every 10 captains retiring, a new single-pilot retrofitted aircraft joins the fleet. Seniority progression would not continue until the pilot group shrunk down to the new "right-size" for fleet-wide single pilot operations. On the upside, maybe that single pilot can be paid substantially more than their 121 passenger counterparts, but seniority stagnation stinks!
