Default Another new guy, just retired from USAF

Greetings, all! I just officially retired from the USAF after 20 years, 4 months (retirement date was 1 Feb 08).

I have 3,419 hours w/ 1142 PIC (FAR Part 1 definition) in the C-141B Starlifter, C-12F (Beech King Air), C-21A Learjet, and C-5B Galaxy (plus T-37 and T-38 in pilot training). I have apps out with Delta, Continental, AirTran, jetBlue, US Airways, SWA, and Virgin America. I attended the Air, Inc job fair in Dallas 2 weekends ago, and I just went to the jetBlue open house last weekend in Orlando.

Now I'm just in "standby" mode waiting for an interview call. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Honestly, my favorite airline is whomever will hire me.

Given a choice, AirTran would probably be my #1 at the moment. I would have thought I would have received a call by now from them, though, although it has only been less than 2 weeks since I talked to them at the Air, Inc job fair in Dallas.

JetBlue would be good for me too.

I submitted my apps in Dec, and my last flight (C-5 Galaxy) was in Dec also.

And thanks for the welcome!

Thanks -- I think I'll enjoy my "retirement" more once I secure a job ...

Welcome! Just a thought...if you are not tied to living in the U.S. you should investigate foreign flying. China and Dubai are two places right off the top that are hiring like crazy. And they usually have nice expat packages involved. Not right for everyone, but some folks never even look...some real pearls out there.

Good advice... take the first Major that will hire you... unless you need to live in a specific domicile.

Roger that! I got the call from AirTran yesterday, interviewing on the 27th. Hopefully, I won't suck that day.
