Default CFI Initial

Finished my MEI/CFI Initial yesterday! Just my CFII and CFI single left and those should get done this week or early next week.

Almost there!

I second the congratulations. You won't regret CFIing. I think everyone here will agree you learn a butt-ton doing it.

The guy I went with in Las Vegas was very straight forward. His oral was pretty informal. He had me write a lesson plan on the board, not anything specific just the proper format. Then he asked like 5 FOI questions. Went way in depth on endorsements and Critical Engine/VMC. Went over a sectional and were done. It was very quick compared to the other guys orals, so I guess I did good.

The ride was simple. Took off killed the engine on the roll, then two landings. Went out and did stalls, steep turns, drag demo, VMC demo, emergecy descent, and came back did single engine landing and that was it. He didn't do short field landing or ground reference, and this was with a FAA Inspector on the ride observing.

Was alot easier than I thought, but I was at the airport studying from 5 to 10 every day for a week.

Excellent work and flying! Not to minimize your acheivement, but most people fail these practicals the first time through due to variedness of testing procedures used by examiners. My guess is your guy did not see any reason to probe further with you and cut off the test in time to get everything done in one session. Most people do not fare so well, and lot of good pilots get slips on their CFI initial.

Going to do some teaching now?
