Smile Hi from the East Coast - Aspiring Pilot

Hi!!! I am from Massachusetts. I am a current freshman in college majoring in Accounting. I have always wanted to be a pilot, but everyone (parents) always gives me a funny look when I tell them I want to be a pilot; like I am insane. I might as well tell them I can see into the future and I have a time machine. I just have no feeling for accounting and I came accros that being a pilot is plausible you dont have to go to Harvard. Anyway I hope one day I can fly for AA or UAL with one of their 757 if they are still flying or just cross country flights JFK-LAX, BOS-SFO etc.

…. Reminds me of someone’s forum signature I once saw:

“Please don’t tell my mother I’m a pilot. She thinks I’m a piano player in a cathouse.”

Seriously though, this forum is a good place to get some realistic industry insight. If you really want to be a pilot, go for it. I would recommend you still get a degree in something that interests you, and you can work on your pilot certificates / ratings while in school. That way if you change your mind along the way about flying for a living, you still have other options. Just my $0.02 of course.

Hey integra144
Ya gotta follow your dreams, but like FADEC monkey said, it would be nice to pay the bills along the way. Even if you end up loving accounting, you could still be a private pilot on the weekends!
