Thanks for the encouragement. I'll keep that offer to PM in mind.
What I need is a contract to keep doing what I'm doing now.
I'm in this pickle of not wanting to think about it now and just keep plugging away and the nagging in the back of my procrastinator's mind telling me that this is one thing I'd like to break the nasty habit of mine on!
So....where are you now and what are you doing? How did that transition go for you?

I am still AD for another month or so, then I start at CAL. Transition has been painless thus far, the only worry is first year pay. The thing is, if you plan for it, it is not that bad. I am also starting with the reserves after training, so that will at least give me my military flying fix and supplement the income. That is about it. I live where I will be flying out of in both cases, so I got really lucky. Not having to move while getting out of the military is a definite plus.

Congrats on the plan coming together. I had two friends recently get on with CAL. I won't have to worry about that military fix. I'll be retired so when I fly that last sortie - I'm done with pointy nosed airplanes. Time to recage the brain and learn a whole different world.

USMCFLYR,
Welcome, I am an OSU grad (1998) and former USAF. Just got out in Sep and took a GS non-flying job to spend more time with family and make more $$$. May still look at the flying world if things improve. Also plan to go ANG. Never to early to plan, you can get your ATP for less than 1k if you go the traditional FAA route and get it reimbursed by the GI Bill if you have it (written and flight). I used ShepardAir and it worked great. Still need to get my flying part done. Good luck! Go Pokes!
