Lets' see, I've spent 28 years in the commercial nuclear power business. Probably would have gone into aviation but a fairly severe high frequency hearing loss prevents me from getting a Class 1 medical.
Funny, NRC had the same standards for licensed operators but with an out that the numbers could be waived by demonstrating competency. So instead of flying a jet I "flew" a reactor for 10 years before going into Project Management/Controls.
I've had a PPL for about nine years but seldom fly anymore. I've recently made a good friend that owns a helicopter/jet maintenance and repair facility so may be getting back at least around it here soon.
