Default Hello

Hey,

I've been reading this forum for about 6 months, but just now registered since I have finally started taking lessons!

I'm 15 years old right now (16 in a month), so I've still got a ways to go towards even getting my PPL, but I do have 1.5 hours under my belt after having an intro flight and my first actual flight lesson.

I hope one day to become a professional pilot, though I'm not sure if I want to do commercial, corporate or what. Despite all that I've heard as to the negative aspects of the profession, I don't think anything can really persuade me otherwise.

See ya guys around,
Brandon

Welcome and congrats on getting started. Have fun dont let the drama in the industry right now get you down. This industry is very cyclical and this cycle is not any different.

Good for you and keep going with the PPL. If you get that before you finish high school you will be all the better. Don't and I mean don't let anyone discourage you from doing what you want. However do your homework first. Getting paid to fly is great. Safe Flying.

Thanks for the welcomes.

I will certainly not let anyone talk me out of this as it truly is my passion in life.

I've been doing a lot of research (or a lot for a 15 year old ) and while it certainly seems true that the industry isn't great (that's a pretty conservative remark), it is cyclical as you said and will get better.

One of the biggest advantages you have is starting young. There are ups and downs in this biz and getting started early means you'll be better qualified to benefit during the ups and young enough to wade through the downs. I was pumping gas at 16, PPL at 17, and IFR at 18. I credit some of that as the reason I'm where I am now.

My goodness, a 15 year old! You must be the youngest new member here. Welcome!

Keep at it, kid. Work hard, do good work, and have fun while doing it. [And you write better than 80% of the posters here, so you're ahead already. ]

Brandon,
Welcome to the forum. At 16, you have the bull by the nose! Keep you eyes on the prize and you'll be in great shape when the time comes.
Take care,
fbh

Thanks for the welcoming comments and advice.

I certainly hope that being young will be helpful as after my first lesson, I'll need all the help I can get! (it wasn't as easy as I had imagined!)
