Default Thoughts on how planned Delta/NWA merger will change Republic

I was wondering how Republic will change, if any, due to the expected merger? Specifically CHQ. I am starting training soon on the E145 and am a little nervous about what it will mean to the new guys.

Our contracts are set. Things shouldn't change much for the time being. Who knows after that. When AA bought TWA they were required to take us with them. When one company purchases another they are also taking responsibility for any debt and current contracts that other company has.

I hope that it will put CHQ out of business along with all the other regonals.

ALL 70 seat jets should be flown at mainline airlines.

ALL 50 seat jets should be flown at mainline airlines.

Until 37, 50, 70, 76, 86, 90 seat jets are at main line airlines, nobody will have the careers that we all expect and most of us (except Go Jets) deserve.

I fly a 50 seat jet. I like my company, I like the airplane, but without a doubt I deserve more pay for what I do. We all do.

JO invented the "Regional Airline". How can any one of us be proud to follow in those footsteps.

If fly for ExpressJet. We have our problems just like any airline. I feel so strongly about this, that I commute 1000 miles out of my way to fly our "Branded" Mainline flights. That flying may succeed and it may not, but it feels good to know that I am not subcontracting anymore. I am not taking away a mainline seat. We are all a product of the way things are, but no one is trying to change it.

We have got to get out of this "I'm gonna get my 1000 PIC and move on" mentaility.

Rant over, but you wanted an opinion, well you may have got more than you asked for.

So I take it then you would immediately quit if Xjet stopped doing branded flying?

Do you feel "dirty" getting a paycheck bankrolled by CAL and DAL?

Would you refuse a reserve assignment/junior man to fly a CAL or DAL trip?

When you accepted the position, would you have quit if they assigned you a CAL base?

Dude, usually I am out of control but you my friend have stepped up! Bottom line, it is NEVER going to go back. All we can do is hope to stop the bleeding with new companies flying larger aircraft paying what you and I make there is not much hope. Especially when people sign up willingly. Even the branded flying you speak of, do we really need another airline? Not ripping you just stating a view point. Imagine Republic flying 190/195's under the republic banner. We don't want that now do we? (the answer is no we don't)

Cool, good to know. Thanks

BTW how did you get the moving avatar to work. I have one for Statler and Waldorf (my avatar) but the system wouldn't let me use it.

Blah Blah Blah sounds like somebody is jealous about Republic. Sorry we are taking your continental flying from you, maybe your CEO should've read the history books about regionals going branded. Smart move on your CEOs part, opening up a branded airline to compete with your own codeshare. Good luck out there buddy. Sorry if this offends anyone else I don't mean too, but nobody should EVER wish another pilot lose their job like this person did. We are all in this middle road career together.

Hey, Expressjet made a tough decision when CAL cut back their flying...they did what they had to do with the 69 airplanes they couldnt fly for CAL anymore. Nobody wanted to see them go down like that. And Xkuzme1 is right. 50/70 seat jets don't belong at the regionals...regionals were meant as feeders from small cities to major hubs...using props. You a Republic Pilot...of all people should be more upset about that than anyone else....Air Canada Flies 170/5's and so do other foreign carriers with Major payscales.

But then again.....all most new hires care about are how awesome and big the 70/90 seaters are....paying your dues at a regional is one thing....but none of us should be on poverty level pay scales
