Default CAL/UAL potential merger - How 2 integrate?

So, why not get this started since it's pretty likely gonna happen.

Lets see what everyone is thinking...

CAL leverage:
-Large growth (over 100 a/c on order)
-Firm orders on 737NGs and 787s
-2.5 yr Capt's
-1700 new employees in last 3 years
-Better mgt
-Better position standalone than United would be
-Better "current" pay
-Higher retirement B-scale
-Very old pilot group
-better Latin routes
-All Boeing fleet (Kellner might try to get rid of airbus-ii)
-Less debt

UAL leverage:
-Much bigger company
-More cash on hand
-more widebodies (~120 vs ~60 on property)
-much better domiciles (from most peoples' standpoint)
-747s on property
-better pacific routes

What are some other leverage points?

What do you think an SLI opener for either company would be?

Staple

All good points... but aircraft orders don't mean squat these days.

Why not straight date of hire, that seems work pretty well

Pardon me for saying, but your "leverage points" are pretty weak. Why not stand behind the respective MEC Chair's message from yesterday and unite two pilot groups with the mandate of neither group will be disadvantaged?

If management is going to force a merger, why not rally pilots to ensure that both groups interests are represented?

But then straight date of hire works too.

Look,

CAL will want ratios. UAL will want DOH. Or, vice versa.

Whatever the case, you guys should just get your strongest, meanest pilot from each group and get the two to fight to the death. Whoever wins takes all, just like in the movie Troy.

Believe me, that would be easier.

Not so simple keemosabee.

That works for the bottom of CAL's list but not for UAL.

100% agree. Also, no pay decreases, no furloughs and nobody gets bumped involuntarily from any bases on either side. All of the lock in times for uprgrade and airplane switches gone.
