Do you still go to FLETC before you get stationed? Do you know what a typical week schedule is like?

hey i interviewed with customs and border protection about 2 weeks ago. interview went really well and all my references have been contacted. I was "selected" for tampa (it is only a c-210 and an astar base) I really want Homestead (Miami). How easy is it to transfer once you get hired???

You don't have to speak fluent spanish. I flew with those guys all the time and they knew a few words. You get a sheet of commands you had to know but that was it. They use their maglite to do most the talking and that's only if they land out there which they don't do too often. A few inside referrals help. They like to hire from the inside so if a guy gets 250hrs and is already part of the force he'll trump you. When they first started that program I couldn't shut the doors on my office there were so many coming in wanting me to get them through their commercial ratings. Good pay though and good benefits.

If you are on the southern border you now need to pass a Spanish language exam. If you don't, you get treated to 8 weeks of speech lessons at Artesia!

My interview date was July 9th, still no word. I'm really happy for you man. As for myself can't help from getting a little bummed. They called my references the same day of the interview, so I thought it went well..... We shall see.

ya i interviewed right after ya on the 10th

they told us mid to late august with "soft" offers

pacing back and forth trying to see myself flying a c-210 for a couple of years before flying other stuff at cbp... I am in an RJ right now.

but from the experience I had at the interview and with other AIA guys... id take this job in a heart beat

Okay, so we are in the same boat. I think I saw you. Where you there on the 9th in the morning, but couldn't fly cause the planes were broke so you got delayed. Was that you? They gave me either Jacksonville or Miami. I would prefer Jacksonville. I currently work for the DoD. I'm with you, I would drop everything in a heartbeat to work for the CBP. I wish you luck brother.
