Default AF Reserve Pilot Bonus?

Does the AF Reserve offer any form of pilot bonus to other than AGR types? If so details please! I couldn't find anything in the forum or on the web.

I am turning down the active bonus this year and moving over to the reserves, big $ to turn down but it all boils to QOL!

Thanks for any info

Hell, we don't even get full flight pay as a part-timer...1/30th per day, total crap. You expect a bonus...

The bonus is, you can quit any time you want!

5 years of the Man grabbing me by the short-and-curlies isn't worth $25k/year IMO.

Carry it one step further and think about going to war. You really take the same risks as the war fighter, but what about the "rest" of the military. The "rest" of the military gets to retire and start collecting retirement immediately while you have to wait until you are 60. How this ever got bought off on is beyond me. We should collect as soon as we retire just like the full time folks.

Having been on both sides of the fence now, I would guess one reason we don't get retirement right away is to "encourage" active duty participation vice res/guard. People want that retirement right away, and it keeps some folks from jumping ship right away. If you can keep an all-volunteer force without the "dreaded" draft, DC politics and the 4-stars stay satisfied.

You don't get full flight pay when you're deployed at war for the full month?

Thanks for all the good info, I figured as much on the bonus... I tell you, understanding the reserve pay and retirement system consistently confuses the hell out of me!, I am sure I will be confused for a while. It will be like being a 2Lt all over again

Given the current ops tempo for the reserves and guard it is amazing some form of bonus isn't offered on that front! If only oil prices would subside and civilian demand would increase it might become a reality!

I'm gonna be bumming it for a while to pay the rent.

Sure, if you are there 30 days, you get 30/30. Under normal drilling(fighter side), 8-10 days per month, you get 1/3 at best for keeping the same requirements as a full-timer. It's a scam. I've never met a guy in the CONUS flying 30 days per month(every month). You're either qual'd or you're not.

Isn't the "rest" of the military on duty 24/7, and available for indefinite deployment with a phone call? A part timer must be activated, and then can only be deployed for a finite period based on the law. I'd say that's a bit of a different "risk".
