To say I'm excited would be an understatement. This will be a ****-load of flying; exactly what I'm looking for...in a growth industry. I'm told Beale will be a base, but the environmental impact study isn't complete. I've also heard Hurlburt as a PCS option. I haven't heard anything about Cannon...I'd like to avoid Clovis.

Without going into detail, I've kind of thought of it as a nice opportunity for change. (been in my MWS for 12 yrs) Things aren't as messy for me as for asupilot, but still, things sometimes wear on you. Just one example: chance to fly new airplane with EFIS/FMS rather than 40-yr old planes with round dials. And I'm near the end...so it would be a job to retire out of.

Curious as to how they could offer joint spouse when they haven't even decided on the permanent basing

Yeah, congrats and good luck. My bud heard he was going to wonderful Clovis. Sorry man, but on the bright side it may be conjecture. Hope for the best!

RC-12s started dropping in UPT last night. Two went to Vance, one each on the T-1 and -38 sides. There's mixed feelings about it from the students and IPs, some like the mission and are OK with the plane seeing as it is multi-engine. A lot of people don't like the idea of being locked into it as an MWS, and the word is RC-12s are an offical MWS, so cross flow will be limited to other airframes. Also, there is no word as to who the MAJCOM will be, and this also isin't going over well (I detect a little worry about them being ACC assests from people, AFSOC seems to go over a little better).

My Boss (ASOG/CC) was told at the RTRB (Langley) a month ago that the RC-12 would be ACC. They also were told the AT-6B, whenever that comes online, will be an ACC asset...although AFSOC has/still is making a huge play for them. This is the latest I have and is all RUMINT.

That AT-6B looks sweet. Reminds me of the combat tweet. I would consider going to fly that plane, especially if its an AFSOC asset and based in FL.

You seriously think they'd give it to us "herbivores"?

"Herbivore" is an attitude. I was an AC in a heavy before switching to fighters (as were many others) and there were some of my heavy driver compadres that I would put into a single-seat tactical aircraft - and there were a lot that I wouldn't. That being said, they could use IFF as a pretty good discriminator.

Huh? AT-6B?? Hadn't even heard anything about it. When did this come about? And what's its mission?

The idea has been out for a couple of years. Check it
AT-6B Light Attack Aircraft / Trainer Air Force Technology

I think the Israeli's might have a few. For those who haven't flown a T-6 it's a hell of a good time.
