For those of you who re-entered the AF, don't forget to transfer your new GI bill benefits if you want to give them to your spouse/kids.
You can only transfer benefits if you are in the military (retired/separated can't transfer). I already had a Master's degree and didn't want/need any more education.
5 days after signing in, I was able to transfer benefits to my kids.

Here is where I found the transfer option: https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/agents... =DFAS,FAM,CAC

I'm new to this forum, looking for information on getting an age weiver for retired return to AD. I'm retired UAL, retired Jet Airways, Honorary Reserve Retired with 16 1/2 years AD. (All of those "retired" get me ZERO income). I would like to go back on AD for 3 1/2 years, but will need an age waiver, since I turn 65 this February. My AD background is 2 tours VN (O-2A & F-4), B-52, T-39 and C-21, 2 tours as an O-2 instructor at Patrick. I would like to get a flying tour in combat, then teach at USAFA. I suspect an A-10 is out of the question, but I wouldn't mind an MC-12.

Any thoughts on getting an age waiver? Has anyone heard of any being given?

Thanks!

Default Waivers

gnolly:

Unfortunately, you are over 60, and the two things that seem unwaivable are age 60, and rank over LtCol.

Guys who turn 60 AFTER they get in the program can stay until they are 62.

Finally, it seems that guys who have been out of a military cockpit for 8 years have almost zero chance of getting back in one.

Try calling the recall folks. I don't have number at hand but it is somewhere in the first few pages of this thread.

Another option might be contractor work doing MC-12-ish stuff in the desert. Not Air Force...contractor stuff for the USAF.

Good luck. I may have been at Patrick going through OV-10 RTU while you were teaching in the mighty Duck (1984).

Lot of info here. Great stuff. Did not have the ability to wade through all of it so forgive the questions if the answers have already been offered somewhere in the 60+ pages.

Have any non-USAF types been picked up for this program? If so, roughly how many and in what capacity are they now serving?

Just curious, not ready/needing to go back in myself.

Thx - M

Selected to go to 17th AF at Ramstein with a January training date. Any feedback (workarounds) on getting aeronautical orders revalidated in a timely manner. Recall Ops is saying 4-6 weeks.

They are not taking anyone accept blue suiters at this time. I have a friend in TN, a retired Navy pilot who called and asked and they said "NO!"

Ramstein is a great place and I welcome you to Germany. I am inthe 603d but we have close ties to the 617th.

Snacks,

Told I have been approved by the board, hopefully will get my SOI this week. Any other way to touch base (to exchange email addresses) without me posting 25 times? I am new to this thread/posting stuff...

Thanks- twol

I'd be happy to email you if you want to hang an email address out here in the open.
