Default No More 1-yr ACP Flying Bonus ANG/AFR

Got all the paperwork in my work inbox last week. Looks like no more 1-yr bonus for those on MPA tours unless you are a UAV or (PC-12???--I forget which random WS).

I'll give them credit for trying to retain the folks they need in one area, but I'll go out on a limb and predict a pilot shortage in the not too distant future (read: majors start hiring again).

Unfortunately that's not going to start anytime soon.
Although I don't know why one wouldn't stay in to get a retirement because you sure won't get one at most of the commercial carriers and the pay in the military is way better.

I just got the paperwork in. I got lucky my airframe is in the mix. They have a 2 year deal. Can you pick up a longer set of orders? I agree with your assessment of the future shortage. The bonus makes the difference in pay for me for a year or two more.

Because some of us were deploying three times and more a year -- not to mention the usual TDYs. Then being told to fly a desk because the needs of the Air Force come first. Not to mention, no more ancillary training bullcrap, Uncle Sam not telling me what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and asking 8 offices if I could take leave.

I love the Air Force. I'll never forget the experiences I've had there. However, the USAF is one of the most mismanaged entities out there. And for those of us who were simply trying to make things better, more efficient, and trying to do the right thing, I am very glad I gave it up and moved on.

There's much more to life than a paycheck. If you are happy in the Air Force, stay. If you are not, leave. It's that simple.

I could not agree with you more about the Air Force being mismanaged. (They need more leaders, not managers. But that is a different topic). I did only mention the pay because the thread was about ACP. The AF does also provide job security but at a cost(deployments, TDY's, desk jobs, etc). I did 22 years in the AD, reserves and guard and right now my pension comes in handy after my mismanaged legacy fuloughed me for the second time. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the time off and look at it as a mid-life temporary retirement, but without the pension things could be worse.

Can you guys point me in the direction to find out which air frames are covered by this? I didn't know you could get a bonus for non-AGR (ie MPA days) tours.
