Bull****. You're telling me you spent two years in training with this guy and you don't even know why he was removed from training? You don't get all the way to a B course and get yanked because a vision waiver was denied. And you certainly don't wash out in one day without other people in your class knowing about it.
You sir, are full of ****.

Your IP address traces to MA, and you mentioned him getting into a MA unit. Odd....
So much win right there!

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any evidence that he actually is one.

Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a reason for discussion, except for the fact that this particular F/O appears as the feature in a column titled "ALPA Code Of Ethics ROLE MODEL".

I did a little Google-snooping last night and, indeed, there appear to be some holes in this F/O's claim. I do not want to question a man's integrity if he is straight-up, so I'm hoping that someone here can help provide some additional info to validate his story.

Can anyone help shed any light on this? Any Jersey Guard dudes here?

The thread on BaseOps has a scan of the ALPA article, as well as the discussion that calls some of Mr Martins' claims into question.

Hacker,

A friend of mine just got hired with the guard unit up in ACY, will ask him and get back to you.

Thanks! The gentleman in question appears to have posted a retraction of sorts on the BaseOps thread, so it may ultimately be a moot point.

Here's what he said:
What I was trying to get across was that I was trying to get into the 177th after medicating out of a pilot slot.

How did he get "chosen" to be interviewed and showcased in the ALPA magazine? Surely there must be a lot more other pilots (real ones) out there the magazine could have interviewed?

It looks like he has been following the chatter on different forums? How do we know that retraction is from him? Is it possible for that forum to authenticate him?

Does ALPA do any research or investigation before publishing articles?

Do we have confirmation that he is indeed with American Eagle? How do we know another poser might be posing as this poser?

Very curious. Some people just have too much time on their hands, I guess.

That was hardly a retraction.... damn tool bag. Look him up in the FAA databse, no cfi/seaplane.... He must be so caught up in his own world of lies that it never crossed his mind that his "story" would be questioned.

Looser, I want to kick him in the crotch.

Hah, I never even thought of looking up his ratings in the FAA database. What else in that article is a load of excrement?

So...really...."a role model for the ALPA Code of Ethics"?? (at least, that's what the article said, right?)

Every one of you who is an ALPA member should be outraged at this guy.

Wow, what sick entertainment. I was just leafing through that magazine yesterday and I saw the role model article too but I just rolled my eyes. I know there are plenty of guys my age who are good guys, but who are you kidding when you show off a 24 yr old dude as a "role model" to thousands of experienced professionals who have achieved so much - I mean really? To be fair about the fighter pilot part though, and just because it's hard for me to understand why someone would choose to lie about something like this... maybe it's possible the reporter totally screwed up the story... or maybe he got a slot and is on his way to UPT (so the guys at his squadron don't know him yet.. I'm sure 90% of the pilots at my unit don't know I even exist).
USMC and vagabond mentioned earlier that there have been other "posers" as well on this forum. It's just so odd... why do people lie about their credentials on an anonymous forum????

The article said that a Delta FO (who was at Eagle prior to Delta) nominated him, and he was ultimately chosen by a panel of pilots

It also said "Tim is what ALPA stands for. He is ALPA." (so..... that makes ALPA a poser???)

So just to make sure I got this whole thing straight...

Flight School to Atlantic Coast Airlines to ANG F-16 add Eagle add FDNY Ladder 2 add Colgan Investigation add Soup Kitchen add Habitat for Humanity.

So where does he find the time to use his imagination if he's doing all that?

I bet a guy as motivated as that will be able to skip over everyone ahead of him in seniority and start logging Space Shuttle PIC before we know what happened.

Hacker--an additional comment about the firefighting thing--While it is certainly possible to be a firefighter and Paramedic--and it is certainly possible to be certified as such--the paramedic part does not jibe. It takes a couple of years and significant effort to become a paramedic. It's certainly do-able but not really in the time frame he states--to become a certified Firefighter, Licensed Paramedic, Commercial Pilot and ANG F16 pilot through UPT all at the same time. That is a huge amount of training in a very short time.

Oh yeah-don't forget college graduation. mmm--no.

You girls are fun to watch. Are you going to strip down to your panties and have a pillow fight after you're done scratching his eyes out?
