failed UPT check and applications
I failed my form check back in the good old tweet days. Are you guys putting down failed UPT check rides on applications(fedex)? Was unsure, this is not a formal form 8 if they wanted that and how it has an impact on the PhD super f'd up matrix
Thanks
Thanks

I put mine on the app and haven't been called, but I'm not available until August...I'm hoping that's why.
A buddy of mine did the same when the window opened a year ago. He was available immediately and is now in IOE for the Airbus to HKG.
Who knows?
I've asked this question before and got mixed answers. There's practically zero chance they'd know or be able to find out, but I also know there's a strong emphasis on integrity. I didn't risk it. If they don't want to hire me because of UPT check busts, so be it.

Given lots of checkrides in UPT, both category (students), and Form 8 (IP's). Student category checkrides are not technically/legally checkrides. Regular student "checkpilots" have not been given the rating of "Evaluator", and if you were to look any of your "checkride" 781's, check section IP's log "Instructor" time, not "Evaluator" time. Most of them are 200 hour FAIPS for goodness sakes. Nowhere near the judgement required for a real evaluator. Not a real checkride, but you have to call is something in the syllabus.

Agreed, "check rides" at UPT are nothing than a phase check in a part 141 program for steep turns and stalls. Unless you've failed a form 8 or FAA check DO NOT put that on your app. There is no record of this anyway.

My flying history folder has a UPT record in it. It lists every daily grade/flight and checkride. Perhaps I'm the only one with this document? But it clearly shows where I busted my nav check.
Reality is, the airline will probably never know if you lied. Are you willing to bet your career on it? Because once you lie and get caught for something like that, you don't recover. But they'll never know right?

Is it a matter of lying? Did the application ask for a listing of busted phase (non-form 8 / non-FAA) checks?
At some point the Air Force stopped giving form 8s out of UPT. Phase checks were a part of the training and no qualification was awarded from a phase check, therefore a qualification couldn't have been revoked as a result of a phase check bust.
I'd like the perspective of the hiring board on what they wanted to know by asking that question. If they want to know phase busts then I'd put it down. If they want to know about busts that affected your qualificaiton level I wouldn't put it down.

The applications leave you enough room to hang yourself. Some of the applications say "Have you failed any check ride, line check, proficiency check, or aviation test?"
The last place you want to be arguing whether UPT check rides are "real" check rides is when you are sitting there being interviewed, or worst, when you find out that you're being fired for lying on an application.
