I took my written through Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst at their education center. I only have to pay for the Shepperd Air prep. I have been talking to Carl at Accessible Aviation in Mississippi that is primarily devoted to military. He is a very friendly and knowledgeable guy. You may find it difficult to get ahold of him since he is probably swamped with business.

Is there a site out there which reviews ATP practicals? I've heard a couple of horror stories from some of my bros who went to an unnamed company well known for ATPs and said the DEs they used specifically mentioned how mil guys were taking THEIR jobs.
I'm not looking for a free pass, but I also don't want to check with a guy who has a bone to pick with military pilots "stealing" their jobs. I know that my civilian knowledge isn't what it could be, and that I'll be taking a check ride in a plane with 2-3 hours of experience, last thing I need is a check pilot who doesn't like me for my current job.
Thanks.

Anyone that is looking for an inexpensive and quick ATP, there's an oufit in Maine at Sanford Regional Airport. It is a custom tailored program designed on how well you fly small twins/GA aircraft. Basically if you only require 1-10 hours prep they will sign you off for a checkride with a pro-military examiner, who gets it. The Multi-Engine Training/ATP school is called Dash Aviation in Sanford, Maine. A few of us went there and knocked out the written one day, flight and practical the next. Total cost of training, exams, etc was about 2k. If you need anymore details PM me. Good Luck.

ATP Recommendation
MikeF16, Not sure how your search is going but I just completed my ATP practical in a DA42 w/Galvin Flight Training out of Boeing Field in Seattle. The Galvin team was phenomenal and it's been an outstanding experience. I'd highly recommend these guys. I heard some horror stories about 2-3 day programs in the Phoenix area so I spent a little extra money and time but feel like both the training and experience were well worth it. Good Luck.

I just finished my ATP practical with Galvin at Boeing Field with OwnerF16. They set up a class for 4 of us and they were very military friendly. The DA-42 uses a FADEC system so it only has 1 power lever per engine, push it up to go faster, pull it back to go slower. I highly recommend this flight school, they did a great job for us, very well prepared for the practical.

If anyone is looking for a mil-friendly, quality ATP course in the Maryland area check out Middle River Aviation… I'm going through the program right now and it is solid. They use a GA-7… full-motion sim too. Very convenient for folks stationed in DC.
