Default Socal ANG units?

I am looking for some information on the CA ANG, specifically in the LA area. I have a friend who is looking to join as an officer. He is an engineer with Northrup Grumman, and would like to expand his horizons with military service. I am an Army Guard guy in IN, so my knowledge of both the AF side of the house and the state of CA are limited.

He is not looking to fly, he would probably best serve the Guard in an intelligence or other support role. I did some google-fu, and found there is an Air Reconnaissance Wing, the 163rd, in Riverside. I've given him the contact for their recruiters, but would like to provide him some better advice than "go talk to a recruiter."

Feel free to PM me. Thanks for your help and advice!

EM

Any contact info for that unit? Do they have their own officer recruiter?

I am sure you can find a number to the squadron on this website and ask for officer recruiter info.

March now has RPAs as well as C-17s so they should definitely have intel needs. Not sure how many officer positions though, active duty Intel officers look to be hit pretty hard by the upcoming force shaping.

If he wants to make powerpoints(be an intel guy), then yes, I would say that pred unit would be good.

I am 24 just got hired at an airline and am about 2 years out from finishing my bachelors. Would love to fly jets in the guard and serve, while also flying in the airlines. Anybody have some ideas about what I should be doing now to prepare?
