Afghan and Africa jobs for prior-Mil guys
Gents,
If you are low time/can't get a job with airlines/don't want to work for "slave" wages at a regional/don't want to fly for an airline period...Avenge and L-3 are on a hiring spree. L-3 just posted a bunch of positions and I've talked to a friend there now who says that they are hurting for pilots due to the hiring at the majors. And I know Avenge has been hiring for some time as well. Its overseas, its not a vacation....but the pay is good and they are hiring (not just mil, but they prefer it). Just throwing that out there...go to the Part 135 threads for more info.

You need to have a current TS clearance or don't waste your time applying. I had an interview in December and they offered me a King Air Captain job if HR would foot the bill for a clearance update.
Never heard from them again.

While I don't doubt there may be a tiny handful of jobs requiring a TS, the overwhelming majority require only a secret clearance.

Any idea if they plan on upping the pay and or benefits. I took VSP so I could stop going spending half m life in Afghanistan. But if the pay was really good I would consider going back for a little while.
From what I hear the pay they sensor operators the same amount as the pilots which seems off. I know of several sensor operators working for them that never operated a sensor before and are flying missions for them. Can't really train a pilot that quickly or cheaply.

As long as they can keep filling the seats of people jumping to the airlines, I don't expect that to change! IMHO

The money is good but smarter to get in with an airline or fractional where the money will be good down the road AND you can live at home. If thats not an option and you can get on with an ISR program you can get good time off or money. I grossed 200k last year but spent a total of 45 days in the US. Your life literally passes you by. Going to work for a fractional soon. Its not worth it to me.

I was surprised that, considering how badly they needed pilots, they wouldn't pony up for a Secret clearance.
Oh well, got a job somewhere else that doesn't require living in a plywood shack.
