Default AirlineApps & Military Reserve Status?

So on airlineapps it gives you a choice of Active Duty or Reserve, and also an active/inactive status.

Active Duty is obviously going to be Active.

But for Reserves does "Inactive" mean IRR/Not Drilling, with "Active" meaning Drilling?

Or does Inactive mean traditional drilling reserve, with Active meaning AD recall/FTS?

I'd like to hear how others interpreted this?

Why are they asking about an individual's reserve status? Seems like an avenue for discrimination. My company has been pretty good about my military service, but it seems the environment is changing lately.

Sure, it could be an avenue for discrimination, if you can prove that you weren't hired or let go due to your military service. Laws are a tricky thing.

In general, however, answering untruthfully could later bite you in the ass, as opposed to not disclosing the information until asked. As a drilling reservist, I have not had any issues (yet) receiving offers to interview for a number of positions. Additionally, I also recognize that it is unwise to try to apply to a position that has little room for error, such as a one man show for a single pilot department. It's a two way street between you and your employer, but the USERRA has 51% of the vote.

My whole class (minus a few flows) are guardsman/reservists or retired military. I have numerous friends hired at the majors recently...95% are mil and the other 5% are civilians who were interns at their respective majors. I highly doubt there is any anti-military discrimination going on.

I didn't say there was any, but I will say I think the environment is changing. My company leans on the drilling reservists much more than in the past. Competition for eligible pilots is increasing. I'm sure there are companies that would rather just not deal with it. Proving discrimination would be difficult, I'll grant that. I also would not advocate lying about it and suggested no such thing. I still don't know why your current reserve status should be relevant to a hiring authority.
