I'm not dismissing anything. But if you don't believe in anything (which is fine), there's no need to make a big deal out of, ie no special treatment.
All that said I firmly believe in separation of church and state, with exceptions made only for a few historical traditions and only if most folks can agree they're harmless (MOST reasonable folks, I don't care about the few rabble- rousers who will never be happy . I actually don't think the pledge of allegiance is appropriate in schools because it is not really historical, ie it doesn't go back to our roots as a nation, it came into common use in the 1950's.

Muskets and owning another human being existed during our formative years, yet we have seem to have let those go.
What irks me is people using tradition to push their personal religious beliefs on others who may, out of their innate freedom, choose not to subscribe to them. If you want or need a pulpit, find one elsewhere.
I have found, nearly without exception, people of faith to be very judgmental...when only God can judge.
Move on...

But just so ya'll know, I'm no particular religion at all. I'm really more of an impartial observer. So calling me "people of faith" or judgmental is pretty silly. Nowhere have I advocated or disparaged any particular religion.
