Trying to figure out the best option, help!

Yes, T-38s are really what I'm shooting for if I go the UPT route. A select few have been lucky enough to make it back within the last year but rumor has it that door of opportunity is unfortunately closing very fast for us AMC types, and likely will be shut (if it isn't already) by the time I'm eligible for my next assignment
I stopped instructing a month ago and up to that point, not a single 11M had washed out; however, the guys with 11M experience and the 11B drivers spend a lot more time on CAP and bust a lot more rides. That is not a jab at people who fly those airplanes, but there is such a difference between what those guys do on a daily basis and what an 11F does it makes a huge difference in stick and rudder skills. I also believe there could be a credibility problem for 11Ms on the line which could take some time to overcome but certainly wouldn't be impossible (IMO one of our best PIT IPs was an B-1/U-2 pilot). As a PIT IP I did not experience this at the UPT level since I wasn't there, so that is just a guess not observation.

Thanks hindsight, appreciate the advice. FWIW, yes, it would be going over to the Bone, and yes I flew T-38s in UPT. (The B-2 gig is quite appealing too, would also give me the chance to fly the T-38 again!)
But would airlines value T-6 instructor time that much? I'd assume they'd more prefer multi-engine jet time? Just want to be realistic and don't want to hose myself out of any future prospects...but hey, I also agree, life's short. Ah, decisions, decisions...

I just left as a T-38 PIT IP and those rumors are false. There aren't enough 11F and 11B pilots to fill all the requirements. We just sent AETC a request to revise the syllabus to make it a bit friendlier for 11M pilots.
